WASH United Mali launches 2011/2012 campaign in Bamako

On Friday, 14 October 2011, WASH United launched its new campaign for 2011/2012 in Bamako at Hotel Salam. The new campaign will continue its work that uses the popularity of football as the communication tool to improving access to water, sanitation and hygiene measures in Mali.

Kick-Off with a round of WASH United World Toilet Cup!

 

Dounantié Dao held the opening speech by revisiting the project milestones in the past campaign year, the strategy plan for 2011/2012, and his visions for the future. Further Speeches were held by Brehima Sangaré, Chief of the Cabinet of the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation; Karl Flittner, German Ambassador to Mali; and Boubacar Touré 3rd Vice President of FEMAFOOT.

The speakers praised WASH United for its excellent work, and its innovative and effective approach to communicate the highly important issue. They also expressed their continued trust in the campaign to make safe drinking water and sanitation a reality for all. After the presentations, the group gathered outside to show their skills in the WASH United World Toilet Cup game.

Many high-level representatives from both politics as well as the football sector attended the celebratory launch event, such as Kassoum Coulibaly, 2nd Vice President of the League of Bamako. The event garnered national attention as it was broadcast on ORTM, the national television channel, reaching more than one million people.
